Can ED Tablets Be Taken With Food and Alcohol?
Alcohol is a potent agent. In small quantities, it helps to relax after a hard day, feel confident. But in large quantities, it causes significant harm to the body.
Men who use potency medications, both original and generic, are often interested in the question – how will they work with alcohol? Of course, a man wants to be on top but a romantic evening is unlikely to do without a drink.
Texas Chemist answers this question on the basis of long experience in the sale of drugs for enhancing potency. We also remember the stories of our customers who share their impressions in the reviews section.
Do Viagra, Cialis and Levitra work with alcohol?
Experts believe that the maximum dose of alcohol which is safe for the body is 100 g. In other words, this is equivalent to 400-450 ml of wine, 700 ml of beer, 600 ml of gin and tonic.
Men are often interested in whether it is possible to combine ED drugs (Viagra, Levitra, Cialis) with alcohol.
You need to make a choice: sex or alcohol. If you want to get drunk, then you should not take any pills for potency – there will be no effect. If you want to have sex, then go to the pharmacy to buy Viagra, Cialis or Levitra, then invite your girlfriend to a restaurant, order a glass of wine (no more), drink it and go to have sex.
Viagra (sildenafil), Levitra (vardenafil) and Cialis (tadalafil) are selective competitive inhibitors of PDE 5. The molecules of these drugs are similar in structure to the cGMP molecule, they all block the action of the PDE5 enzyme. Even slight differences in the structure of molecules can lead to a pronounced difference in their action. A striking example of similarities in structure and differences in properties are the molecules of testosterone and estradiol.
Viagra and alcohol
To date, there is no convincing evidence that the combined use of Viagra and alcoholic beverages (in moderate doses) can lead to any fatal consequences.
A man weighing 80 kg can drink about 100 g of a strong drink and take Viagra without consequences.
The main component of Viagra (sildenafil) does not interact with alcohol; this has been proved by science. But life has proved that an excessive amount of alcohol in the blood causes problems with an erection.
You can take sildenafil pills with alcohol but you risk turning the holiday into a nightmare. Why? Alcohol increases the load on the heart, increases the number of contractions of the heart muscle, and cardiac work increases. Viagra also affects the heart, speeds up the number of contractions. Thus, the heart begins to experience a double load. Pressure rises, a person feels headache and heaviness in the head, his face becomes red. Those phenomena are observed during a hangover. If a man has no problems with hyper- or hypotension, then such side effects may not happen, and the use of Viagra with alcohol may give a satisfactory result.
Still, alcohol is able to enhance the side effects of sildenafil: dizziness, headache, indigestion, facial flushing, muscle pain, diarrhea. That is why the use of Viagra increases the chances of unpleasant side effects, reducing the chances of normal sex.
Cialis and alcohol
Cialis (tadalafil) is taken orally before the planned sexual activity, regardless of the concomitant intake of food or alcohol. According to the annotation to the drug, Cialis does not interact with alcohol when used together and the ethanol concentration does not affect the therapeutic dose of tadalafil. A small amount of alcohol will not cause any problems, however, a significant dose of alcohol can interact with these ED pills.
Small doses of alcohol (200 grams of wine or 0.5 liters of beer or 100 grams of whiskey) will not cause any problems for most men when taken with Cialis.
Studies have shown that the effect of this drug does not depend on alcohol. However, it should be noted that alcohol in large doses negatively affects erection and can cause erectile dysfunction.
However, we must not forget that Cialis and alcohol have a systemic effect: tadalafil and alcohol expand the walls of blood vessels, which can lead to a sharp drop in blood pressure, especially in the presence of provoking factors. This is stated in the annotation. Definitely, those who had dizziness and an orthostatic reaction after taking alcohol will have the same reactions when using Cialis (as a result of the vascular response), and these side effects will increase with a combination of
Currently, this medicine is the only phosphodiesterase-5 inhibitor, which lasts for more than a day – up to 36 hours.
Levitra and alcohol
Alcohol intake does not significantly affect the pharmacokinetics of Levitra (vardenafil).
Theoretically, there is a risk that drugs like Levitra may interact with alcohol, but clinical trials have not revealed such an interaction. In general, alcohol can produce a vardenafil-like effect – vasodilation and dizziness, rapid heartbeat (tachycardia), and low blood pressure.
However, studies have not shown interaction when Levitra was combined with alcohol in a dose of 200 grams of a strogn drink.
Although studies do not show interactions, it is recommended to avoid drinking large doses of alcohol.
According to the manufacturers’ annotation, Levitra, Cialis and Viagra should not be combined with anticoagulants. Anticoagulants are responsible for blood coagulation in terms of what causes it to clot.
Due to the fact that alcohol has the same effect on blood as an anticoagulant, the use of ED drugs and alcohol is not recommended.
ED drugs and fatty foods
Quite often, men wonder whether fatty foods influences the effectiveness of ED drugs (Viagra, Cialis, Levitra). The instructions for use indicate that these drugs should be taken 1 hour before the planned sexual activity, and it is also noted that fatty foods can reduce the maximum concentration of the drug in plasma and extend the time it takes to reach it.
For this reason, we recommend that you take ED pills on an empty stomach or at least after a light dinner.
